Why is it called a blow-job when it's actually a suck-job?

LOL. I got this question from a person, but I don't think that that person would want his/her identity disclosed.

Fellatio, is also known as oral sex performed upon the penis. It may be performed to induce orgasm and ejaculation of semen, or it can be used as a foreplay prior to vaginal or anal forms of intercourse.

Fellatio is also commonly known as "blow-job" or "giving a head".

Now why is it called a blow job when there's hardly any blowing involved in the process?

The name came from one of 3 possibilities:

1. Victorian slang for a "below-job" (as in below the belt), for the volcanic reaction of the resulting orgasm. It is allegedly an old Victorian slang term that was commonly used to describe the act.


2. "The common slang term blow-job is a misnomer (a wrong or unsuitable name), as blowing is not normally part of fellatio. In fact, blowing air into a partner's penis is an unhealthy practice. It is most commonly thought to be a facetious (not serious, intended to be funny) use of "blow" as the opposite of "suck".


3. However, there is a third school of thought that believes the word "blow" in "blow-job" indicates the climax of the penis (compare to blowing of a volcano).
